DVD playback trouble

I installed a Samsung DVD burner in my PC w/ XP SP2, 384mgs ram. If I play a DVD with the included software (Nero), the audio skips and is jerky. If I play a DVD with Media Player 10, I get good video, but no audio output. What gives?
