dvd sata installation problem

hello everyone. i recently built a system not too long ago. i used ultra ata hard drive and the same for my cd rom drive. i just bought a cd/dvd combo drive, but it is SATA. so i hooked up the drive to the sata hook-up on my motherboard, and started it up. i can get it to recognize the hard drive and the cd/dvd combo drive, but it does this little check, and ends up saying something about an error, and to insert system disk and press enter. does anyone have any advice, or maybea solution to this?
