I have an HP DVD Writer 740b and have come across a problem I can not solve. I use the Sonic software that came with the PC and have used it for 2 years. Recently I tried to burn some pictures and the drive would not recognize any media. I have since removed the drive, reloaded software(recovery option), downloaded various burning software, and tried several brands of CD-R’s all to no avail. I have another program that only burns to DVD’s and it still works(also some of the downloaded burning software would work with DVD’s). I have also ran Dr. Watson to check the drive with no problems reported. I am at a loss for what is causing this and I hesitate to go out and buy any software or burner to find out it was something simple. I also have not loaded any software recently that would have changed the operation of the drive. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.
