DVDRom not recognised in bios

by mtrooney . Updated 19 years, 6 months ago

Hi forgive me I am new at this. Its a long story but the outcome is that my bios does not recognise one of my dvdrom(asus quiettrack) on the secondary ide circuit, that is the slave drive on that circuit(original problem was power supply packed up/changed case with new power supply400W. It all worked OK before this). I have 2 Hard drives both masters another DVD writer on the first circuit and if I interchange the 2 dvd i.e. put the asus on the primary it will be picked up in the bios. This makes me think that secondary ide channel 2 is faulty. So I bought and ide to usb converter, but cant get it to work on the DVDrom I can plug a another hardisk to it and Windowx XP Pro picks it up staight away as a removable storage drive. But when I put same cable onto DVRom its not picked up by windows work
