Dynamic disks and mirroring

I installed Win2k on Disk0. Install done, booted machine, started Disk Management, and upgraded Disk0 from basic to dynamic. Now I cannot create a mirror (with Disk1) because Disk0 started out as a basic disk! How do I create a dynamic disk prior toinstallation so I can mirror the drive where Win2k is installed?! I must be missing something.
