dynamic table or text

IS there a way to change the text that is displayed in a table or a page without refreshing the page? I’ve tried setting a variable to a long set of text but that is inconvenient. Better yet, is there a way to display text from a .txt file or external file in on a page, then have it change when the user navigates? Thank you for your help.
