Dynamic updates on an NT DNS server

My shop is running an NT Server, Microsoft DNS. As I understand it, this version of MS DNS is not capable of acccepting dynamic updates.

Recently, I’ve noticed some W2k pro PC’s actually registering their IP address with this NT DNS server.Since my DNS server is an NT 4.0 DNS, how is this possible?
