Emachines t2865 Help

I bought an emachines t2865 barebones yesterday. I can’t get any video to show up. I’m wondering if I have the correct memory in the system? I know it supports dual channel ddr. The stick I have is an older single channel. Could this be the problem? Or are dual channel slots backwards compatible. The motherboard model is (au31). Thanks.
