How do we enable the local fax modem (MS Fax) to work under the control of a local user in a small business network environment on a Win2000 Professional Workstation?
We recently replaced a Win98 workstation with a Win2000 Professional Workstation Networked to a File & Print Server (NT). We set up the workstation with both an Administrator account and a local user account (Mark). The Fax dial-up modem is A-Open 56-FX. Everything seems networked correctly and all the old network shares & files on the server are available to the user (Mark). But he needs to send faxes on his local machine from Word or Excel. When he prints to FAX the document gets loaded into the Queue and just sits there. The computer refuses to dial out. When thelocal user logs into the computer as a local machine (rather than to the network domain) the fax works properly from Word or Excel. When I log in as Administrator (to the local machine) the fax dials out with no problem. When I log into the networkdomain (from this workstation) as Administrator (using the server password) then all the faxes in the Que from the local user (Mark) are finally sent. (The computer dials out & the earlier faxes are sent). I have tried setting every local user permission that I can find for the Fax Que, Fax Controler, etc. What am I missing? Is there a good step by step manual or fact sheet that explains how to set this up properly?
