Erasing a hard drive and starting anew.

I know this is going to sound quite simplistic, but I have not done this in soooo long-(I need a refresher to get the wheels turning in my overloaded brain again.) I need to remove everything from a hard drive to repartition and reinstall Windows 98. Where do I start?
