error accessing registry

i have a workstation that gets the message “there was an error accessing the registry in win98” It then proceeds to reboot and “rpair the registry if you click ok. This doesn’t work. I also run scanreg /fix and scanreg /opt. This might work foronly a day. Sometimes I have to run it a few times before it works. How can I troubleshoot further or repair this for good?
