Error after doing an automatic update

I received the following error from a user after performing an automatic update.
I cannot even get to safe mode.

“Session5_initialization_failed.
Check to make sure any new hardware/software is properly installed

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as catching or shadowing.”

Any Ideas?
