error message upon boot

I just built a computer and installed Windows 98 on it. The installation process went fine. When the computer restarted itself, I got this error message:

While initializing device NDIS:
Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer.

No matter how many times I restart my computer I get this message. Although, it will let me into safe mode. Plealse help. Thanks in advance.
