Ethernet Driver

by robert.vivarelli . Updated 19 years, 1 month ago

Lost my hard drive, put a new one in, used the restore CD to replace windows.. Everything seems to be working fine except I cannot get it to connect to the internet via ethernet.
I do not have any special settings through my ISP. I have reinstalled the driver for the realtek rtl 8139/810x several times and nothing. All of the tcp/ip settings are correct(all set to auto)I can plug another computer into the same line and it connects right up without any changes or settings. Have I missed something when I re loaded windows by the restore disk?
Forgot one thing; I get an error screen each time I boot it up, error 0271 check date and time settings, and error 0251 system CMOS checksum bad. when i hit f1 to continue it boots right up.
Its an emachines too… Im trying to fix it for a friend who doesnt have the money to buy a new one. Every time i go near it its doing something new..
Thanks!!!
