Ethernet limitations

I know the distance limitation of ethernet UTP is 100m, which is actually 328 ft. My question is that this is 1 straight cable with no breaks in it. I’m trying to cable this project using patch panels. After doing some research for this I found that the distance from patch panel to patch panel is 268 ft. Now I have to accomadate for patch cables which will only allow for 60 more feet, with some more ends added to this equation. I read somewhere that you loose 10ft of distance with every end(RJ45) you add. Can someone shed some light on this and if this is true where will I be able find this in print. Thanks for your help.
