Event ID: 1002

I am facing a problem in Win2k pro with sp3 and IE5. Whenever I open IE browser or windows explorer I get an error message, the event viewer details are as follows:

Event ID: 1002
Source: Winlogon
Description: The shell stopped unexpectedly andexplorer.exe was restarted.

I tried re-installing sp3 still the problem persists, I even searched on microsoft site with following link:

The solutions given is not anyway related to me, but the error was same.
