I have a Compaq Evo n610c laptop with 40 Gb hard drive from Fujitsu. Lately, I been having some error msg in the Event Viewer, and after 3 days of uptime, Windows Explorer would fail to display the content of C drive (there is only one partition); yet, OS is still up and runnning.
It is an IDE drive, so it is not SCSI. Also, originally, the HDD would operate at DMA5, and after the error msg, it would drop down to DMA4 and so on. Here is a copy of the error msg in the Event Viewer:

Please keep in mind that this problem doesn’t prevent the computer from booting up. Once rebooted, it will be fine for awhile at the rate of DMA5 until error msg shows up again.
