EventViewer – ApplicationLog -Properties

Our company recently created a new Exchange 2000 Server. We had a contractor come out to help with this. For some reason we are unable to access any of the properties for the Application log. We can view / change the System Log and the Security Log without any problems. Size, Created, Modified, Accessed all say not available. Looking at the details of the default log file \winnt\system32\config\appevent.evt the file hasn’t been modified for a month now. Any ideas?
