We go through a tremendous number of cpu fans. I know it is a small investment for such a huge risk, but there are times I feel we aren’t handling it right.
When I have a case open, and it is dusty, I blow it out. Especially the fan and heat sink. But I have noticed that often after being blowed out, the fan starts making noise and soon goes out. I figure I am blowing some of the dust up into the bearings of the fan and shortening it’s life. But the heat sink can’t be covered in dirt either.
My question is: Has anyone ever tried a white lithium spray or WD40 spray lightly in the bearings? That should not create a fire hazard, but I am too nervous to try it. Has anyone else heard of such a thing or tried it themselves?
Ijust hate to keep tossing $15 fans that I just put in last month because they rattle.
Suggestions welcome!
Thank you in advance for the help.
