Excel File Sharing & W9X Briefcases

When you create a briefcase using Windows 98 (or 95) the Excel files that are a part of the briefcase become “shared” automatically. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? Is there a registry edit to stop this? If I want the file to be “shared” I will set it that way by myself. This does not happen with briefcases in Windows NT4
