Exchange 2k contacts issue

by shanghai sam . Updated 24 years, 2 months ago

I need someone well familiar with Win 2k and Exchange 2k.

My company outsources our mail serving, and all internet based mail for all staff comes to the hosted server. In our Administration office we also run an Exchange server for the LAN. We have run internal mail on Exchange 5.5 with outbound mail only using the IMC happily for years. The Exchange 5.5 server uses the same mail domain for addresses as our internet e-mail, e.g. name@mycompany.com.au.
Custom recipients on Exchange 5.5 are setup for people within our company (out of the Administration office) on the name@mycompany.com.au domain.
WE are unable to create the same under a Exchange 2k server.
When we create the contact using the @mycompany.com.au which is also used internally on the LAN any mail sent to the contact gets caught in a loop. The error: “A configuration error in the e-mail system caused the message
> to bounce between two servers or to be forwarded between two recipients.”

I’ve been vague with the question as I really just want to know if what we’re doing can be done or not. Definite answer one way or the other.

can anyone help?
