Exchange 5.5 & ISP/POP provider

I have a client that has a Win 2000 server running Exchange 5.5 SP3. Internally within the LAN and the SMTP, outgoing email is working fine. My Question is, what do I have to do to get the external POP incoming service to work properly? They havea Cisco 678 dsl router for the service.
