We have a Dell PowerEdge 2300 (with 512MB of RAM and plenty of free hard drive space) running NT Server 4.0 w/ service pack 6a and Exchange Server 5.5 (around 30-40 clients) w/ service pack 4. Every day or every other day, the computer is locking up- no mouse movement, no keyboard response. We have ran the Dell hardware diagnostics program and it found no errors. We even reinstalled NT and Exchange from scratch and it still freezes. Unfortunately, there are no blue screens reporting errors andno error messages in event viewer. The only thing we have noticed is within performance monitor, the “store.exe” program seems to be running high memory usage. Last time the computer froze, the “store.exe” program was at 426148K, while it starts upat around 6000K (we keep up that window so we know what the condition of memory is when it freezes). We have already applied and reapplied the service packs for NT (6a) and Exchange (4).
We do not have any anti-virus programs installed. The only third party utils we have are backup exec and apc’s ups software. Do you have any ideas of what is going on?
