Exchange Back Up problem

My tape drive died in my Exchange server. What I want to do is Back Up my Exchange server from another server on the network. Veritas Back Up Exec on all the servers, and I have the Excahnge Agent and accelerator installed. When I browse to select items for back up and can get to remote Exchange server’s file system but not IS or DIR object. The back Up Exec install said to put the Exchange Admin program on the new box even though its not an Exchange server. Is there a procedure for this?Is this realy necessary? How do I do that?
