Exchange DNS Needs

I upgraded my winnt 4.0 server to Win 2k and I am having problems upgrading my Exchange to 2k. What do I need in my DNS for Exchange? The MSExchange MTA service will not start and I think part of it is that it cannot connect to the DNS?
