Exchange mailbox – directory name

When re-naming a mailbox to a new user (because of position replacement), you can edit everything in the mailbox property pages but the DIRECTORY NAME in the ADVANCED tab. Where can that name be edited so that it matches the new user name. We rename accounts at times so that the new user assumes all of the old user mail & property rights. Should we not do that?
