Exchange Server 2000 -vs- Verizon DSL

by erik.designsmith . Updated 23 years, 1 month ago

I am an SBS 2000 rookie by every definition. My company purchased 5 new workstations running XP and a Dell Poweredge 1400sc to run SBS 2000. We also use Verizon DSL as our ISP. My question is this… Is it possible to use Verizon DSL with Exchange Server 2000? If so, what type of signal is used to notify the ISP that the server is ready to receive mail? My choices in the Internet Connection Wizard are ETRN command or Issue Turn after Authentication. I am able to connect to the internet from the server as well as connect to the server from the XP workstations. My problem is that Exchange is failing. Under the SBS Adminstrator console it says that Microsoft Exhange Information Store, Microsoft Exhange MTA Stacks, Microsoft Exhange System Attendant, and QoS Admission Control (RSVP) have all stopped. Restarting these services does nothing. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
