Exchange Server 5.5 installation

by zhouweiqin . Updated 25 years, 2 months ago

I tried to install Exchange 5.5 to my Standard Alone Server that is not connected to network yet, and OS is NT4.0. When I insert Exchange Server 5.5 to CD-ROM, Installer should start automatically but it didn?t.
Let me tell you what I did.

1) I create an NT account for the Exchange Service after I installed NT 4.0.
2) Insert the Exchange 5.5 Server CD into the drive, and it didn?t start automatically.
3) Then click | control panel | Exchsrvr | Server |set up| I386| setup|, it gave me message : This computer must belong to a window NT domain before Microsoft Exchange cannot be installed.
4) Then I click | control panel | Exchsrvr | Server |set up | Exchconn | setup | std |, message said: Microsoft Exchange Administrator is not installed on this machine, you require the exchange Administrator in this machine.

This means that I cannot install Exchange 5.5 to my standard alone server? I never have done with this.
Is any body can help me. Thanks very much.

Tina
