Exchange Server Mail?

I’d like to download mail from my exchange server by connecting to my isp, then, opening Outlook. My company is connected to the internet with T1 data line and Firewall. The exchange server does not have a modem for remote download, so I’m trying to connect through the open internet connection. Is this possible and how? Thank you for any comments?
