Old machine with 100gb maxtor hdd actually 2 of them in the same machine. anyway the old machine was not used for about a year, went to boot but completely dead. I thought it was power supply- tested this by connecting green and black wires together and the fan spins. So i think it might be mother board- anyway after replacing the mobo this now it boots but still no hdd recognised,so i think cheapest way to get my data is via usb hdd enclosure, so i got one of these and put my primary disk in but no joy- hdd spins fine no ugly noises. hdd slave plugged in and it works fine can access whatever is on there. Why cant i get access to this primary drive? i cant see it in xp!!! why? when connecting to my usb port i get the connection beep and the usb icon appear in task bar ( reconised mass storage device) please help!!
