About 2 weeks ago I bought a new 160GB HDD for my ps2 along with a case with USB 2.0. I did install it sucessfully and it worked on IDE, but when I use USB , it’s not detected in my computer. Luckily, I don’t need this feature as it some how detects it on USB in the program I use to transfer ISO’s to the HDD. Now, I bought another 160GB HDD and another case(different)this one being for my laptop. Since i use XP, it should be detected auto right? Well, it doesn’t. I’ve tried installing the drivers using control panel and the disk, but I get “the instalation failed because a function driver was not specified for this instance”.
I know the HDD works as I tested it and formatted it and I believe the case to be fault free because I get a green light. Any suggestions? Also, on my PC, under the safely remove hardware, my HDD is detected as a USB mass media device. However on my laptop, it is not.
