extracting files fron an MP3 player

How do you extract files fron an MP3 player which has no Operating System? The OS was erased on mistake, but the files are still on the player. Without the OS, the files cannot be played. I’m trying everything to save my 5500+ music files without having to format my player. Any help? (MP3 player: Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra 40GB)
