Failed to copy longer filenames

I am migrating user files from NT 4.0 server to W2K server. While copying files from NT4 to W2K I am getting errors “file copy error” for files and directories that are very long. They were produced by IE when saving web page as file to the disk. I have to shorten the names of files and dirs to successfully copy them to W2K server. Any sugestions?
