FIC AD11 Motherboard IDE

I am building my first computer and am somewhat confused about IDE configuration. i have a cd-rom, cd-rw, 40 Gig HD. Should the HD be installed in the primary IDE as the boot drive with the cd-rom as master and cd-rw as slave in the secondary IDE? My MB manual and HD manual aren’t specific about this. cd-rom manual shows several options but vague. Thanx, Bill
