Hi
I had long problem setting up RAS in SBS4.5 server with win95 clients. I
couldn’t work out with TCP/IP only, so I am using NetBui and TCP/IP in both
Server and client and all connection now is fine. I have two NIC in SBS
server(10.0.0.0 forLAN and 10.0.1.0 for router connection with subnet of
255.255.255.0). In my case most of connection is going through NetBui but I
also setup Static IP pool of 10.0.1.11 – 10.0.1.20, so RAS client receive IP
address of 10.0.1.12 onward and client receive 255.0.0.0 subnet mask which
is mystery.
I know if you have subnets that will slow you down a bit and as this connection is using stander phone line nothing you can do much(as far as I know). I was wondering if you guys know how we can speed of accessing files in office server? I also heard about PCAnywhere, will it be worth of buying(just to speed of file accessing in server)?putting high speed cables(e.g. ISDN line) in user’s house is not an option for time being.
Is there any way that we can speed up accessing files in server from home(with dial up connection) and same time keeping cost down?
Accessing MSAccess file it takes more than 5 minutes. and some time it gives connection error or MS Not responding.
Thank you in advance
Regards
Ashok
