File copy problems with Win XP install

I am attempting a dual boot install of XP (via a network share). I can copy the install files successfully to my hard drive (Compaq Deskpro EN 866 PIII), Scandisk returns no errors, a DPS self test from the PC’s bios returns no problems with the hard drive (this test includes a surface scan), and I have plenty of disk space (over 11 gigs). When the text mode portion runs (which copies the files to the WinXp directory, I keep getting errors that the files cannot be copied and to retry or skip. No other PC’s (they are the same) in my area have this trouble. The only difference between mine and the others is a ROMPaq boot ROM upgrade from 2.11 to 3.11. What could be wrong?
