File Permission Problems in Word

This is kind of strange because it does not happen on all machines.
1. Create a document and save it to mapped drive on a Novell server.
2. Open the file and change it.
3. Try to save the file.
4. Get error stating file could not be saved because of a problem with permissions.
5. File then gets deleted!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
