FileMaker?

Help does anyone have any knowlege concerning an application “FileMaker”?.
I have a situation were a friend is dead set on using the “FileMaker” app. I want to sell them on MS Access which I’m very experienced.What is “FileMaker”? What are it’s advantages, what are it’s disadvantages?
