Finding an item I need

by sbhuck . Updated 23 years, 3 months ago

I purchased on ebay a HP External CD-Writer plus CD-RW Drive Model C4381A 7200e. The seller said that the Power adapter was not included because it got lost. I went to the HP page, and asked about this “power Adapter” and their responce was that it was a power cord. I checked and found out I could get the power cord before I bought the item.
When I downloaded the manual, it showed a “power Supply” of “power Module” After some searching on the HP site I found that HP had a number for this, but it was not available any more. A serach of the internet did not yield any results. The HP number of the power supply was C4381-60040. Am I going to need this piece of equipment or not. I have received conflicting information when I asked several dealers about this. I am now completely confused. I have not yet received the Drive, so I do not know what kinds of hookups it will need, but one of the people I contacted said that the new adapter cords would take the place of this “power supply”.
All and any help would be appreciated, in particular some where I could bu this, or is the person right and the new power adapters will be sufficient?
Thanks
