firewire

I have tried 3 different IEEE 1394 host controllers on my Piv computer with winxp and cannot get them to install. I have tried all available pci slots and even downloaded drivers which I should not need , and when I try to install I get this message “Problem installing this device. IEEE 1394 host controller. anerror occurred during the installation of the device. The data is invalid.” can anyone help me with this one?
