Fixing ‘A’ Drive problem

I’ve Pantium II with 2.6 gb hdd, Windows 98 and Office 2000. Sometimes my drive not copying any of the files and giving me error for data lose with blue screen. With RESET of my PC I can gain my lost data but how can I solve this problem? This problem is occured while I was copying file from Excel. It is taking a long time to boot up.
