I am working on a Windows ’98 PC that has been hit with the JS.SEEKER virus. I have removed the infected files as instructed by Symantec. The problem now is that the registry was changed by this virus. Before it made its changes it created two backup files, backup1.reg and backup2.reg. According to Symantec I am to double click on these to restore. Problem is that windows does not start up. I can find both files in dos, but can’t get them back into the registry. When windows tries to boot, following shows: NAV Auto-protect unable to determine the location of the config files.
Can anyone help with this fix?
