Flash Card vs Memory Stick

Hi All,

I’ve got a query regarding the technology in USB memory sticks.
A recent TR article described tests on flash cards which found them extremely robust mechanically.

My question is whether USB memory sticks use the same technology as flash cards.
I am considering using flash cards as backup media
but if memory sticks use the same technology they would be a simpler implementation.
