Flash Memory Virus

Can anyone help how to make my flash memory safe to use again. The university that I work in has picked up a flash memory virus which when you try to open anything on a flash the computer immediately closes. The infection is automatically transferred to every new computer then that the flash memory is plugged into. I am therefore not prepared to take the risk and plug my infected flash into my home computer until I know I have protection against this new virus. I use Zone Alarm Security Suite 6.5
