Floppy drive freezes system when used

Suddenly my floppy drive is causing my computer to freeze completly when I attempt to access any floppy disk. The only way to get out is to re-boot the system. I can not even CTRL-ALT-DEL to re-boot. I tried reconfiguring the BIOS, disableing theNAV, but no luck. Can’t access via CMD prompt either. Any suggestions?
