My floppy drive on an XP machine just stopped functioning. Whenever I try to read a disk, I get an error message stating that the disk in drive A: needs formatting. If I try to format the disk, I get the error message stating that Windows could not complete the format. The floppy drive is listed as working properly in Device Manager. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drive with no luck. I have also tested the drive on a different machine running Windows 2000 and it works fine. I even tested a different floppy drive on the XP machine and it has the same problems although it too works fine on the Windows 2000 machine.
I have read of many people having this same problme and there is even a Microsoft tech article about this but, I have not seen any real solutions to the problem…
Please help!
Thanks,
