Floppy drive..changed to Removable drive

It is a windows 98 se computer. The floppy drive is inaccessable in windows or dos. It is properly dectected in the bios. However, Under “my system” in windows it is displaying the floppy drive as a “Removable drive A”. Everything is hooked up properly inside the case.

this prob. appeared prior to a major sys. trouble….( somehow after another person used the system, system files had disappeared.) Had reinstalled windows, and the drive prob is still present.

Any Ideas?
