Folders appear during startup

I have an HP Provilion 7840 PC with WinMe pre-installed.
The o/s became corrupted. I did a complete restore from the
restore CDs shipped with the computer. Now, during
startup, over the HP logo, two file folders appear and a
file transferoccurs for about two minutes. A message box
appears – “Preparing system, this may
take a few minutes”. After the transfer is complete the
computer boots to the desktop, and everything works fine.
I did not receive this before the restore was done.
What’s happening? How can I fix it? I’m experience
troubleshooting hardware and software, but this is a first
for me. Thanks for your support.
