I am an IT Technician in a school and recently have been hit by a strange problem. We are experiencing folders moving to somewhere else on the network. It is happening too much to be a user issue. If it happened once I could understand it but it is happening too many times to be a user, plus the fact I don’t think many of them would know how to do this. We had been hit by the BugBear Virus before this happened which was not on this network but on the other network that we are running although there is a link between them. The workstations are a mixture of Win 98 and Win 2000pro. I have looked at the permissions, we are running generic logons for the different Key Stage groups and they all have seperate folders on the network which I have set for just that KS group to access. The problem however still is happening. The folders do appear eventually in folders that you wouldn’t think – sometimes in subfolders aswell. It is very strange and I have asked our outsourcing company as well and they are equally puzzled.
Any suggestions of what I can do would be considered.
