Format Old Hard Drives

Hello,

I had come across an article/download a while back I think on TechRepublic on how a Tech person had created this floppy drive that would format hard drives on old computers. This person was faced with a situation where he had many computers and couldn’t hook them up to a monitor or a keyboard, so he created this bootable format disk that would completely wipe out the hard drive and in the end play a little sound that informed him that the task was done. Has anyone seen this article and can point me to it or know what i am talking about and point me on how to create this disk.
